God Gave us a TEAM!

Hey Everyone! Happy Fall!

I have lots to share and I truly don’t know where to begin. God has blessed us so much! More than we could ever deserve! I want to share what is happening and also take a moment to thank some INCREDIBLE PEOPLE.

First I want to say that SoGospelNews and Southern Spin has been and continues to be an amazing blessing to us. They have been team players since forever...and honestly I know that they love people and this genre across the board. When no one knew we occupied space on the planet they shared our music, our press releases, our news, etc. They reach out on behalf of artists in a great way. I want to say thanks to them from all of Hope’s Call!

God has given us many awesome team members through this last few years. In addition to SoGospelNews and Southern Spin, we want to thank Jeff O’Neal for being there from the beginning at radio promotion. Jeff is awesome and has remained the same through the years. Also the Rick Hendrix Company. They work hard for any team they are a part of.

Our graphic designer and friend Brad Strider. He has bent over backwards for us! He is an amazing and talented friend!

Then there is RADIO including Solid Gospel, Show Prep, and all our precious radio dj/friends who play the music so graciously! THANK God for them!

All the media outlets that help get our genre connected.

And our webmaster....Sandra! I owe her a mega hug at convention!

Also, for several people who have helped open door of opportunity for us to sing. The promoters and churches for being willing to have us.

Then the unreal friends and other artists who pray and help in any way they can. There are so many of them.

Our incredible producer and friend KEVIN WARD! There just are no words to thank Kevin enough!

Compassion for showing us the bigger picture in Bolivia and all over the world!

Most of all we thank God for the way He places people in our path to help us to grow and to go!

Now He has been so gracious to open two new major doors for us to help us share with more people in song.

Hope’s Call Signs With Daywind Records and Harper Agency

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. In a rare history signing ceremony, Horizon Award nominee, Hope’s Call, has simultaneously signed both a recording agreement with Daywind Records and a booking agreement with The Harper Agency.

Hope's Call brings a new fresh family harmony to our industry that really catches your attention. I was fortunate to see them perform at my home church during the summer. It was amazing watching the reaction of those in attendance and how the trio was able to minister, stated Ed Harper of The Harper Agency.

The Harper Agency is excited about representing Hope's Call, continued Ed. We look forward to a long term relationship.

Donna Beauvais shares, Six years ago when we began our ministry, we had no idea the plans that God had for us. He has blessed us in so many amazing ways. Our family is honored to have the support of both Daywind Records and The Harper Agency to help us reach more people with a message of hope. We have the highest respect and love for both of these companies and we couldn’t be more thankful for the team that God has placed together.

We are very pleased to have Hope's Call as a part of the Daywind roster, adds Ed Leonard, President of Daywind. They are a very talented group with a heart for God and His people. I feel they will be an exciting addition to our Daywind family.

Hope's Call will release their first Daywind project, Live To Love, at the beginning of 2007. To be distributed worldwide through New Day Christian Distribution and Word Entertainment / WEA.

So there is the NEWS! We are excited and anxious to reach more people!

Keep us in your prayers and know that we love you and recognize that if you are reading this then you are also a PART of the TEAM! You see, when we strive together, God takes our team and makes us stronger. Our competition is never with each other but against the fiery darts of the enemy and the bigger our team the bigger our weapon! We are so thankful for the TEAM!

Phil. 1:3-7 I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me.

A Man After God’s Own Heart

I've been reading an awesome book on the life of David. It's so amazing that God uses the stories of people that lived thousands of years ago to inspire us today! David was just an ordinary kid. Nothing about his appearance, job, or family position ( he was the youngest of seven sons), screamed, "I'm the next king of Israel!" He was a shepherd, who watched his father's sheep. Insignificant to his father Jesse except for the job that he did. In fact, when the prophet Samuel went to David's father's house and asked to see his sons, Jesse forgot about David! When it was clear to Samuel that God had refused the older sons to be anointed as the future king, he asked if there were anymore sons of Jesse. "Well, there is the youngest boy, David, who's in the fields watching the sheep." That was Him! That was God's anointed! Isn't that just like God? To choose someone who is no one. To use the forgotten, but the faithful. While King Saul was being disobedient, defiant, and selfish, God was raising up a man after His own heart. One that nobody knew or cared about. One that would stand up to a giant when everyone else ran in fear, and who would trust in the Lord no matter what. God knew where David was and He knew when and how He would use him. I pray that we will be faithful in the little things, like tending the sheep. Because you never know when God will move us to the front lines to slay a giant! Be ready, be humble, and be content. You are where you are for a reason maybe no one but God knows.

September Reflections

Whoever said you never forget how to ride a bicycle was not entirely telling the truth -- a fact I learned the other day when my husband, Bruce, surprised me with the candy apple red "retro" bike I'd been admiring. I was thrilled. And although I hadn't ridden since high school, I ran to trade sandals for tennis shoes while Bruce waited outside on his new sporty, techno-gadgeted racer. I came out of the house grinning from ear to ear and mounted the bike. I felt a little tentative, but was sure it would be all right. I pedaled clumsily down our inclined driveway, banked to the right, and plowed promptly into old Mr. Tappy's mailbox.

Mrs. Short, the widow next door, emerged to see what all the commotion was, and when she discovered the problem began yelling encouragement to me. (By all means, let's attract the attention of all the neighbors.) How embarrassing to crash and burn fifty feet from the front door! That incident has come to be known as "The Six Second Ride".

I honestly didn't know what happened, except that I lost control. I forgot that although it was a "retro-looking" bicycle, it had handbrakes and gears, something I had never, ever used. After assessing the "damage", which was mostly to my pride, we rode S L O W L Y down the street with me wobbling and teetering every inch of the way. I went to turn into the empty parking lot of St. Kevin's Church and discovered I didn't know how to turn anymore, so I grabbed the handbrakes - HARD - and almost lost control again. By then I was sure this bike was too much for me.

We finally made it into the parking lot, but my nerves were still too jangled to relax. I rode mostly in circles retracing the same path, while Bruce, who apparently has ridden since I have, rode fearlessly like a kid. I met three teenagers cutting across the lot who looked at each other, then gave me that "What's up with her" look. ("Okay", I thought, "tomorrow night I'm wearing a fake nose and glasses. This is too humiliating.") After about thirty minutes the sun was almost down and it was time to head home. I'll have to admit when we left the safety of the church lot it was scary. I felt like a danger to myself and everyone else.

The following night I opted to leave the bicycle parked and do what I should have done to start with -- look at the manual. It's amazing what useful, even lifesaving, information was found in the manual. There were all kinds of things about braking, turning, weight distribution, gear manipulation, and basically how to ride and come home safely.

The next night Bruce and I ventured back out, and although I still didn't feel comfortable, I took what I had learned in the manual and used it. I went back to the same parking lot and tried the gears, practiced maneuvering, coasting, weight shifting, and braking (without throwing myself over the handlebars). At the end of the ride I felt better - more calm, and I began to think, "I can do this - with practice - I can do this."

I wonder how many new Christians feel as wobbly and uncertain as I did that first ride on my new bike. They're excited about their Salvation and they start off like gangbusters only to plow headlong into adversity and situations they are ill-prepared to handle. It's at those times Satan tells them they're in over their head with this Christianity thing and they need to forget it.

Just like me riding in circles in the church lot, some may feel safe and fairly comfortable within the four walls of the church, but their new-found life will have to be lived on the street as well if they ever want to make it Home. They will have to learn how to handle the bumps in the road of life (like illness or loss of a job, or even a loved one). There will be obstacles (like unbelief) and hazards (like temptation) all along the way, and if they don't know how to "avoid and recover" they may become too discouraged to try again.

What they need is a good foundation in "The Manual" -- the Bible. Everything they need to know is found there and once they begin to read and put into practice what they've learned, little by little, day by day, they will realize that they "can do all things through Christ who strengthens" them.

Yes, there will be times when they fail, times when their judgment is not what it ought to be and even times when they fall, but that's when we as seasoned Christians need to stand on the porch of life and shout like Mrs. Short, "You can do it! In time, you can do it!"

Things Aren’t Always As They Appear

The Quicks hope to see you at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky September 11-17! We will be at Booths 1727 & 1729 – Stop by for a Quick visit! We have good candy! We will be singing Thursday afternoon in the Southern Spin showcase at 1:00 PM at the Executive Inn – come hear us do "It's a Sure Thing!"

Things aren't always as they appear. I had just filled the two gallon jug with gas for the mower and gotten back in the van. I noticed Tim had a strange look on his face – well, stranger than usual. He began to tell me about a lady who had pulled up in a white van and kept looking over at him while I pumped gas. He said, "She had this frown on her face. She looked at me sitting here, then at you, then back at me." Tim believed she was giving him "the look" for not being the one out at the gas tank. At first glance, most people would agree with her disgust that the "man" was not the one doing the "man" job. What this lady did not know was that I had just retrieved Tim from the hospital for his weekly infusion. I don't want him anywhere NEAR gas or any other hazardous material while he is in that condition - or any other condition for that matter! When we were first married living in Biloxi, Mississippi, we got a grill. Now back then, everybody didn't have a gas grill – just one of those that you loaded with charcoal then waited 45 minutes for it to get hot. Grilling out was not a joy for me – it irritated me to wait that long for food. On the other hand, it was like a holiday for Tim! He loved to play in the grill – while it was lit! He would squirt lighter fluid into the flame and watch it climb up the stream toward the can he was holding. Hard to believe this nutcase turned out to be the father of my children…

Things aren't always as they appear. We read in Genesis Chapter 39 of Joseph who was accused of attacking Potiphar's wife, when he was totally innocent! To the baker and the butler, Joseph was probably just some low-life who deserved to be in prison. He didn't appear to be anything else. I believe you can get a lot from a first impression, but in all fairness, we need to be discerning when it comes to other people. This comes from listening to the Holy Spirit. Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart! He can always show you how things really are!

We now have a gas grill. My love and concern for the safety of Tim and the girls, as well as our home and personal belongings, compels me to be the one to do the grilling.

Moving In and Moving On

First of all let me start out this month by saying that there is nothing wrong! I know that several of the staff at SoGospelNews may think something is wrong because this is the first month in several that we have been on time with our article.

Vacation is officailly over. That means that everyone has moved for the most part....office and all! Over this past month, our lives have been dominated by heat, humidity, sweat, dirt, boxes, mice and everything else that you would associate with moving during the summer. However, the month as a whole was good. In addition to everyone settling into their new homes, we took some time just to kick back with our family and friends. We did our share of staying up late, playing games well into the night, ordering pizza at midnight and sleeping in. However, it is now time to gear up to go back out on the road as well as finish the new recording.

This month our travels will take us to Michigan than onto Ohio and to Kentucky where we will get to meet old friends and make new ones at the National Quartet Convention. I think we mentioned a couple of months ago that this will be the first time that the King's Heralds have been at NQC since 1967! We are excited to say the least. Please look us up and stop by the booth, we'd love to meet you.
