This morning was the Sunday before our great Nation pauses to celebrate our Declaration of Independence from England. We made such a brave move and fought a hard war winning our independence, but we did it. A great price was paid for that FREEDOM. A great price has continued to be paid by our brave and noble soldiers who have gone to foreign lands and given their lives to make sure that our freedom stood the test of time.

We all still vividly have the memories of September 11th on our minds as for the first time in our nation?s history we were attacked on our homeland. With all of this in mind, I sat in our church service, which had been set aside to honor this holiday of our FREEDOM, and watched as the flag of The United States of America and the Christian flag were marched down the aisle together, side by side. I felt a great heaviness come over me as my eyes fixed on the American flag. My eyes swelled with tears, not from pride, but because of the recent events that have been taking place in our wonderful land. Remember that the courts have just recently tried to take the phrase ?under God? out of our Pledge of Allegiance. It has been a very short time, in fact less than a year since the attack on the World Trade Center, and yet it seems that we have already forgotten that we were crying out to God on that fateful day. On that day, even Congress was calling on God for help, and now our courts are trying to remove God from yet even more of our government.

I bring this to your attention, because I noticed that my eyes weren?t the only ones filled with tears, and I believe that many others in the church auditorium with me were feeling the same sadness at where our country is headed.

I have said all that to make this point. In this month that we traditionally bring our thoughts to the FREEDOM that we have in this great land of ours, let us not forget to PRAY for our President, for our Senators and Representatives, as well as for our Judges, our State officials on down to our local officials. While you?re at it, why don?t you pray for the peace of Jerusalem too? Until Jesus comes back to take His church away, we need to pray for peace in this old troubled world that we live in.
