An Old Love Story

Here's an old love story
Of a woman and a man
And a child sent down from heaven
All the way to Bethlehem
There's nothing new about it
It's all been said before
But every time I hear it
I want to hear a little more

Oh what love and great compassion
Oh what mercy and such grace
The King of heaven's glory
Stepped down through time and space
That Living Word grows sweeter
Every time I hear it told
It's an old love story
That never has grown old

Here's an old love story
Of a saviour crucified
No fault was found in Jesus
But He chose to give His life
And the sinner there beside Him
Was the first to be redeemed
And when salvation started flowing
It flowed all the way to me

Of a Bridegroom in the sky
Making preparations
To catch away His bride
Her garment will be spotless
Like nothing seen before
He'll take her into heaven
Turn around and shut the door
