Every Christian songwriter eventually deals with this question, what am I going to write about?

Sometimes you know that you want to write a song, but you can't find that fresh idea that you're looking for/ Well, my philosophy is, when all else fails, write about Jesus. No matter how much is written about Jesus, our words will never fully tell the story. I began to research what the Bible has to say about Him. I am overwhelmed at what I have found. This is by no means a complete list of names and titles, but it does give just and idea of what God's word has to say about our Savior. Each and every one of these names and titles could inspire at least a thousand songs.

If you want to write about Him being an eternal being, search the scriptures that refer to Him like this:

ALPHA AND OMEGA THE MIGHTY GOD THE EVERLASTING FATHER ANCIENT OF DAYS IMAGE OF GOD FIRSTBORN OVER ALL CREATION

HEIR OF ALL THINGS RADIANCE OF GOD'S GLORY THE WORD THE BELOVED ONLY BEGOTTEN SON I AM

If you want to describe His earthly ministry, look up the Scriptures that call Him:

DAYSPRING MESSIAH SON OF DAVID THE BRANCH IMMANUEL HOLY ONE BROTHER NAZARENE CARPENTER

JEW GALILEAN SON OF MAN PROPHET TEACHER PHYSICIAN SERVANT CHRIST MAN OF SORROWS

Maybe you want to convey the Lord's abiding ministry. If so, consider these titles:

SHILOH STAR SCEPTER REDEEMER ROSE OF SHARON LILY OF THE VALLEY WONDERFUL COUNSELOR PRINCE OF PEACE THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS BRIDEGROOM FRIEND HORN OF SALVATION LAMB OF GOD LIVING WATER SAVIOR JUDGE

OUR PASSOVER THE ROCK THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE HEAD OF THE CHURCH LORD ALL IN ALL OUR HOPE MEDIATOR RANSOM KING OF KINGS THE HIGH PRIEST ADVOCATE THE AMEN ATONING SACRIFICE FAITHFUL AND TRUE WITNESS LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH

Perhaps you want to explain who Jesus said He is. If so, then remember the following titles:

THE BREAD OF LIFE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD THE DOOR THE GOOD SHEPHERD THE WAY THE TRUTH

THE LIFE THE TRUE VINE THE ALMIGHTY BRIGHT MORNING STAR THE LIVING ONE THE ROOT OF DAVID

The Bible tells us that God has highly exalted Him and given Him a name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God. His name is a STRONG TOWER, the righteous run into it and they are saved. He's LIFE! He's the LIVING WATER, LIVING WORD, NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES, and THE NAIL SCARRED NAZARENE. Write about JESUS!!! THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR IT!

A good Bible concordance should help you locate the scriptures that reveal our Lord by the titles above.
