Hi folks,

I hope everyone is having a great summer. Southern Sound certainly is! We recently were honored to be on the program July 19th in Smyrna, TN for the SoGospelnews.com Convention. There were a total of 13 groups from about 2:00 pm till about 10:00 pm that evening. It was a lot of fun and we got to talk with old friends and make many new ones. The Unthank Family were great hosts and made everyone feel so welcome. Thanks to Amy, Chris, Susan, and Deon!

This coming Saturday, August the 9th will find us in Greenville, SC singing for Charlie Waller's Grand Ole Gospel Reunion. The night we are there, all the groups revert to a style and method not seen in gospel concerts in many a day. Its two mics, and a piano. No sound tracks are allowed. Since we usually sing to tracks, I contacted my good friend Woody Beatty to play for us. He has played professionally for years, most notably with Palmetto State Quartet, and more recently with The Singing Ambassadors. Woody has now rehearsed with us and will accompany us at GOGR. He's a great, soft-spoken kind of guy with a head full of quartet harmony knowledge. Thanks Woody!

Also want to let you know about our friends Stillwater Quartet from Hopkinsville, KY. We will be at their homecoming on September 5th held at Calvary Memorial Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, along with the Perrys. Be sure and plan to attend. September the 6th we will again be in Henderson, KY for the annual Southern Gospel Quartet Reunion held again this year in the Fine Arts Center. On the program will be The Conquerors, The Childress Family, Gateway Trio, The Haire Family, The Vocalystics, River City Quartet, The Southlanders and Southern Sound. It is always a lot of fun. The singing starts at 2:00 pm sharp and goes till 9:00 pm that evening. Empty seats have been rare the last few years so come early!

Our new ZION recording "One Voice" is about finished and will be available in about 4 weeks, if all goes as planned. Best one yet!
