Taj Rohr - The Greatness Of It All….. This Is Christmas

Taj Rohr is a huge voice about to explode on the Southern Gospel scene. If you like the vocal sound and styling of Ivan Parker, you are going to love Taj Rohr. This CD has a very nice song selection with some classics, a few newer songs, and a huge ballad medley. The packaging of this CD is just about as good as I have seen. The photography is excellent and the graphics are... well, wonderfully Christmas in nature.

Opening with a nice tempo in "Come On Ring Those Bells", the transition into the old classic "Away In A Manger" is flawless. The other real classics on the CD are "Silent Night" and "O Holy Night". Taj really gets the hang of the spiritual side of "Jesus, What A Wonderful Child". It is always nice to hear the good ole familiar Carols at this time of year.

I like the way Taj included several newer writers in this CD. "A King Is Coming To Town" and "Mary Wrapped A Present To The World" gives the whole CD an updated feel, as well as a Southern Gospel touch. Taj called the medley "The Great Medley", because it has two great worshipful ballads and one powerful praise song in it. Though all three songs can be heard on any given Sunday service, they certainly fit well for the Christmas season. "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "How Great Thou Art" bring praises to God no matter when they are sung. Adding the praise chorus "How Great Is Our God" was just genius.

My favorite song of hte whole CD was saved for the ending song. Mark Lowry penned a wonderful song when he wrote "Mary Was The First One" and Taj does a great job on the song. You still have time to get this CD in time for Christmas.
