Mountain Creek Harmony is a trio based out of Albemarle, North Carolina. The group consists of husband and wife Aaron and Monica Otten and friend Summer Miller. The group's latest recording, Get Out There is produced by Mike Pillow and recorded for Lamp Music Group.

Get Out There opens with the traditional convention styled song "I Belong to the King" which finds the group sounding not unlike the Chuck Wagon Gang. The group switches gears for the mid-tempo traditional southern "He Owns the Valley" that recalls The Greenes or The Hoppers of the 1990s. "Get Out There" features a country-tinged sound that easily recalls the likes of The Martins' "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing". Monica Otten's vowels and tones even recall a young Joyce Martin on this song. This is a style that the group performs very well and should pursue more. "What You Said" is a middle of the road ballad with a nice vocal arrangement.

"Adam's Gonna Run" features a nice mid-tempo country track, while their cover of Dottie Rambo's "He Restoreth My Soul" is an album highlight. "What a Time" follows with another traditional Southern Gospel accompaniment. "The Proof Was In the Scars" is another song that recalls the popular sounds of The Greenes of the 1990s. The up-tempo "Long Journey" closes. The song would have otherwise been a great number if not for the canned horns that bog the song down.

Other than the Rambo cover, all of the songs were written by Aaron and Monica Otten. The duo has a strong ear for memorable melodies - particularly their up tempo numbers. Unfortunately, the CD suffers from under production. The vocals don't come through crisp and clear like they should - and have muffled sound at times - particularly Aaron's. The mixing and editing as a whole could have used more time - and it makes what would otherwise be a fantastic recording sound as if corners were cut.

I'd love to hear what Mountain Creek Harmony would sound like with a bigger budget and better studio. Get Out There is a great introduction to the group - but it probably will fail to get the group the attention they probably should be getting.
