SoulReal Sings For President Bush
Family Music Group artist SoulReal, the dynamic female trio from Louisville, Ky., sang for President George W. Bush when Bush made a visit to Louisville, Ky.-based SISCO, Inc. on Thursday, Feb. 26. The group sang 40 minutes of Gospel music to standing ovations, then ended with their rendition of the National Anthem just before the president spoke. Other dignitaries in attendance were Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao; Chao’s husband, Rep. Mitch McConnell; Rep. Anne Northup; and Senator Jim Bunning.
“We truly admire our president for his stand on family values,” said group member Lesley McFerron. “We consider this opportunity to be an honor.”
Family Music Group President Les Butler said, “What a blessing it was to look around and see CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, the Governor, Mayor, the list goes on and on, hearing the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ!”
The group’s new single, “I Think About You,” is a song from the pen of award-winning writer Rebecca Peck. It is an inspiring song that ministers to all of us in the time in which we live. It reminds us that all the bad news in the world pales in comparison to the most important thing – Jesus, and all that He has done for us.
“We are so excited about this song about hope,” said SoulReal’s Rhonda Jo Conner. “This song is so much fun to sing and its message is so uplifting, we just can't help but smile every time we sing it!"
On April 23 SoulReal will appear, along with Karen Peck and New River, at an NQC and Salem Broadcasting promotion.
May 17, the group will be the featured artist for the Kentucky Women's Baptist Conference. Also appearing there will be well known actress/author Lisa Welchel, who is best known for the comedy series “The Facts of Life.”
Since its founding in 1999, SoulReal has been asked to sing all over the country and has traveled as far as Seoul, Korea. They have appeared at two Gaither Homecoming concerts, one in Louisville and one in Nashville. Additionally, the group has been featured at various women’s conferences, including "Time Out! for Women," along with Kathy Troccoli and Cheri Keaggy. In addition, they have appeared with nationally known speakers Beth Moore, Liz Curtis Higgs and Carol Kent.
