The Top Five Finalists in the balloting for the Diamond Awards finds The Dunaways in the running for Sunrise Award. The 2004 SGN Scoops Diamond Awards will be presented at the Diamond Awards Program Sept. 17, 2004 in the Scots Room of the Executive West Hotel in Louisville, Ky. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. (EDT).

The past year has seen the group release its first project on the Family Music Group label, chart its first Top 40 song with “Beautiful Day,” and garner more than half a dozen other nominations from industry print and online media, including The Singing News, SoGospelNews.com and thesoutherngospel.

Les Butler, the Dunaways’ producer and president of Family Music Group, said, “The Dunaways have had an exceptionally good year and have been nominated for numerous awards. This group has a true ministry, as anyone who has seen them in person knows for sure, and it’s gratifying to know the fans recognize their talent and their zeal for the Gospel. I’m thankful that God brought us together.”

The group’s new single, “I Still Trust You,” written by James L. McFall, debuted at number 59 on the Singing News chart for July.
