God rest her soul. Martha Carson was an elegant and very gracious Southern lady. I have a picture of her in my office she autographed and sent to me in 1989. We talked by telephone a few years ago. It was the only occasion I actually spoke to Ms. Carson, though we did corresponded a few times.
I had the privilege of becoming acquainted with Martha Carson through a mutual friend in Nashville named Scott Turner. In the late 1990's, Scott produced an album of her hits and they became good friends. She was special. In our phone only conversation I referred to her as "the Maureen O' Hara of Gospel music" and she seemed pleased. Martha Carson is really "Satisfied" today - now she's at home with our Savior. I never met Martha Carson. I can only say I thought she was one of the greatest female gospel singers I ever heard....And she was a southern beauty too ! " Satisfied " will always be a favorite of mine...No body sings like that anymore " When my eyes have closed in death, with my Jesus I'll be at rest..Then you'll know I'm Satisfied " I believe Martha Carson is Satisfied...

I met with Martha a hand full of times in the early 80's after discovering her great records from the 1950's. I wrote several indepth, published articles on her and coined the phrase,"Rockin' Queen of Happy Spirituals". Had the timing been right, we would have written a book about her life. She was a grand and talented lady.... David Byers, Canada
