SGMA Executive Director Charlie Waller had the pleasure of giving Bill Gaither a private tour of the Hall of Fame and Museum yesterday at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. Gaither was in town for his annual Family Fest and wanted to tour the museum. "I haven't been here since the opening in 1999 and I am very impressed", said Gaither. As he visited the Hall of Fame Gaither looked at the original glass plaques of the inductees which are in the process of being exchanged with the solid bronze plaques. He stated the bronze plaques are much nicer and impressive. The late Glen Payne made a visit to the museum with SGMA President Maurice Templeton and told Maurice the glass plaques wasn't much to represent a persons lifetime in gospel music and therefore Templeton began a campaign to replace the glass plaques. "Glen was right these do look nice," Said Gaither.

Gaither was intrigued by the animatronic quartet singing the shape notes and then singing the words to "Give the World a Smile", which is sponsored by he and wife Gloria.

We hope you will visit the SGMA Hall of Fame and Museum soon. You never know who may be there touring the museum.
