Channel offers video music blocks, exclusive concerts, interviews and other ‘insider’ looks into the world of Southern & Country Gospel music

ATLANTA, MAY 25, 2005 — Southern & Country Gospel fans can now tune in to the nation’s only 24-hour television channel showcasing every style of gospel music, including the most comprehensive Southern & Country Gospel programming offered on air: Gospel Music Channel. The network, which launched in October 2004 with the world premiere of the Happy Goodmans’ “Last Stand,” offers viewers the biggest concert performances, music videos and in-depth bios on favorite gospel artists—24 hours a day!

Gospel Music Channel is currently on air in more than 60 markets across the nation. The network, which encompasses every style of Gospel music, offers Southern & Country Gospel fans everything from four-part harmony Southern classics to positive Country hits and Bluegrass. Programs feature artists from The Crabb Family to Ricky Scaggs and beyond.

World premieres range from the recent Gatlin Brothers Concert, which highlighted Larry, Steve and Rudy singing hits from a career that has produced more than a dozen Top 40 Hits, to in-depth interviews with Southern Gospel’s hottest artist the Crabb Family , appealing to this broad gospel fan-base. Larry Gatlin joined Gospel Music Channel at its inception as director, artists & performances, Southern & Country Gospel.

Gospel Music Channel’s programming, which includes a variety of Southern Gospel Country-themed entertainment includes:

• “Southern Lunch,” which will begin airing October 13, 2005 (1 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday), offering fans the best performances, videos and interviews of the widest range of new and legendary Southern Gospel artists.

• “Best of Singing Jubilee” (Saturday, 8 p.m. Eastern) — Host Jim Black takes viewers on a journey through the greatest vintage Southern & Country Gospel performances from the classic Gospel Singing Jubilee, which aired in the late 60’s & early 70’s. Relive timeless performances by the Happy Goodmans, the Oak Ridge Boys and other artists in from this popular TV series.

• “Gospel Music Channel: In Studio – The Gatlins’ All Time Favorite Gospel Songs” — Gospel Music Channel takes you behind the scenes in the recording studio as Larry, Steve and Rudy go back to their Gospel roots. It’s an exclusive intimate look at the creative process as the Gatlin brothers record their all time favorite Gospel songs.

• “Faith & Fame” (Monday through Thursday, 8:30 p.m. Eastern) — Host Leland Jones introduces us to gospel artists telling the stories of their lives, music and faith – in their own words. Every Monday night, viewers are taken into the private world of Southern & Country Gospel artists including chart-toppers Ricky Scaggs, Charlie Daniels and the Crabb family.

• “Front Row Live” (Monday through Thursday, 9 p.m. Eastern) — Join host Karla Droege in the front row seat at some of the greatest gospel concerts in the world. Southern & Country Gospel is featured every Monday night, with fans having a ticket to the live shows without the long lines when powerhouse artists are featured up-close in concert. In the comfort of their living rooms, fans get the best seat in the house as stars like Gold City Quartet, Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet and The Goodmans as they perform hour-long shows.

• "Hot List” (Monday through Thursday, 10 p.m. Eastern) — Host Eboni Elektra guides us through an hour of great videos all with a common, but not always obvious theme. Every Monday, Southern & Country Gospel is featured in this unique hour of great music videos. Each hour will target specific categories and themes, including Country Superstars (Tim McGraw, Dolly Parton and others) and Southern Belles, (the most popular female Southern performers of our time) & Down South (traditional Gospel).

The Gospel Music Channel is the brainchild of Charles Humbard, a career-long cable television executive who grew up in a household where gospel music played a major part in the family’s daily lives. Charles’ father is Rex Humbard, and prior to working in cable television, he wrote, performed and produced gospel music for the Rex Humbard Worldwide Ministries. Says Mr. Humbard, “From the time I was young, Gospel music has always played a big part in my life. I have great memories of sitting at the table with Johnny and June Cash, Pat Boone, and Andrea Crouch,or one of the other great artists that my folks invited over for Sunday dinner after singing at the Cathedral of Tomorrow.”
