The Kingsmen Are Back
A couple of weeks ago I went to a concert featuring The Bradys and The Kingsmen. It was a great night of fun and spiritual blessings.
The night however belonged to the Kingsmen. The addition of Tony Peace is a major step to bringing the sounds of the “old” Kingsmen back. There will never be another Jim Hamill, but Tony Peace has a similar stage presence and Emcee ability, and the man can really sing. Phillip Hughes does a great job on the Lead spot and in a lot of ways reminds me of a young Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys. Jeremy Peace sings about as high a Tenor as any of those piercing high Tenors of the Kingsmen from the past years of Kingsmen history. Of course, Ray Dean is Ray Dean, except he may be a little lower than in his younger years.
The guys are currently doing a barrage of oldies hits reminding you just how good the Kingsmen have been all these years, but still have time to perform some new material, to the delight of the crowd. I have mentioned Jim Hamill several times here and what a treat it was to see and hear Big Jim himself on the concert stage that night. He’s 72 years old, has trouble walking, but he can still have an audience in the palm of his sound in about 5 minutes. The old guy can still sing too. He’s lost a little range, but the quality and expression are still there and he’s still a pleasure to listen to. If you get a chance to see the Kingsmen soon, make sure that you do whatever you have to do to get to that concert. You will not be disappointed.

We were at the 40 year reunion in Tennessee a few years ago. Please let us know if you get back up to the Evansville, IN area. I just love to attend Southern Gospel Music Concerts. I just talked to Joyce Meyer of the Conquerors awhile ago by land line. Tenor quit, lead singer with to bass, Baritone singer died. Have new lead, new tenor, new baritone, Joyce, Chris, and the rest of the guys are AWESOME Love you guys Bro. Jim Johnson
