I once sat across from Greg Day and asked him if he knew when he had written a good song. His reply? "Yep, Greg wrote that one because God had nothing to do with it."
I have just recently started writing songs. I didn't start sooner because I personally believe good song writers write about what they know rather than writing about speculation. Something to be said for experience and accuracy. I started reading your article to get pointers in this new venture. Thank you for your advice.

Whew, Daryl! I'm SO glad I'm not the only who doesn't know when I have a good or a bad song. I guess we writers always see a loving spark of something special in our songs; but I can't even tell, a lot of the time, whether the song is commercial or not. That's why I send so many songs to my quartet boys when they are looking - most of the time I think ALL of the ones I'm sending sound just like them! And by the way, "Singing with the Saints" is one of my all-time favorite GVB songs. It's on that project from 1997 that IS my favorite. I love you a bunch, Daryl...keep writin' hits! Dianne.
