From the state of Mississippi comes the country, soulful sounds of Brad Moreland. Brad has a very strong Country feel, but with a touch of Soul; a blend of Country and Rock, with a bit of Pentecost thrown in. However you want to pigeonhole it, it sounds good.
The recording begins with the southern rock feel of "THIS IS THE WALK" and quickly moves to the medium tempo "WHEN JESUS SPEAKS LIFE", which has a strong "Pentecostal" feel to it, as does the invigorating, "GOD'S HOME" (which is my favorite song from the recording). A couple of other songs fall into that general feel such as "REDEEMED, REDEEMED" and "HE CAN". The song "WHERE THERE'S NO NIGHT" is probably the most Southern Gospel sounding tune on here, and is a highlight of the recording.
Nicole Watts-Jenkins (formerly of the Perrys) joins Brad for a duet on the power ballad, "I'LL TAKE JESUS". Brad also tackles another power ballad as he and Kanah Dunaway-Lovern (Dunaways) sing "IN ALL OF HIS GLORY". It is quite obvious that Kanah and Brad did their respective parts of the duet in different studios, as the quality of the vocals does not match at all. Another power ballad is a new Kyla Rowland/Marty Funderburk penned tune called, "HE WATERED THE GARDEN". I will be waiting to see what major artist picks up this song, because it's a great tune. Brad then closes the recording with the classic gospel tune, "WALK IN JERUSALEM" and he does a great job with it.
I really enjoyed Brad's style and the overall production quality of the recording is quite good. There were a couple of pitch problems and a couple of spots where Brad sounded out of breath, but nothing to detract from enjoying the music. Brad's vocal style works very well with the musical accompaniment presented here and those who enjoy the Country/Soul/Pentecostal (ala "Crabb Family Music") feel will definitely find a lot to like with this recording.
