Christlike – Journey
![]() Producer: Les Butler If you like your Southern Gospel filled with electric guitars, steel guitars, fiddles, banjos and mandolins, then Christlike is the group for you. They have a good, strong and exciting country sound and a vocal and musical style that makes me think of a male trio version of the Crabb Family. I recently had a chance to hear them at the 6th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival , and was won over by their sincere vocals and exciting music. The oft-recorded “WALKIN' THIS ROAD” gets the recording off and running and features a neat instrumental reprise at the end of the song before moving on to the medium tempo “LORD, CAN I COME BACK HOME”. This is a strong country-sounding tune that is very reminiscent to something Kenny Hinson would have sung. If you don't like the bluegrass version of the old hymn, “UNCLOUDED DAY” , hold on to your hat, because midway through the song the group throws it into high gear as it becomes a rollicking country gospel tune before the group slows down for their current single, “HERE I AM AGAIN”, which has become an immensely popular song for Christlike and is one of the highlights of the recording. Made popular 20 years ago by the Freemans, Christlike turns in an excellent performance with “HAVE YOU HEARD” before moving on to a song previously recorded by the Crabb Family about 7 years ago entitled, “I'M ALMOST HOME” . Written by Gerald, this is a cool song that works very well for Christlike. “SOMEBODY PRAY” is a nice ballad about how prayer can change someone's life and turn a bad situation around. The next song, “TEARS” runs along the same lines and reminds us of the wonderful transformation that takes place when a lost soul comes to know the Lord. Reviving an old Hinson classic, the guys do a good job with “THE TOUCH OF THE MASTER'S STRONG HAND” before closing things out with the thought provoking, upbeat number, “IF YOU DON'T FIND HIM HERE”. I love the lyrics to the song… “If you don't find Him here, you won't find Him there, time is drawing near, you better be prepared, cause we'll all live forever, but the question is where, if you don't find Him here, you won't Him find there.” The song boasts a really cool music track as well. While the group has a very good sound and I enjoy their music, there are a couple of places where they seem to be singing out of their range just a bit. Otherwise, I really have no other issues. I have never been a huge fan of the Country Gospel sound, but I must confess that I find this to be an excellent piece of work and I look forward to hearing what these guys put out next. Personal Favs: LORD, CAN I COME BACK HOME; UNCLOUDED DAY; HERE I AM AGAIN; HAVE YOU HEARD; IF YOU DON'T FIND HIM HERE Reader Comments

James, thank you for the kind comments. I am VERY glad that you like the CD. I would like to conclude with a heartfelt thanks to Christlike. These guys are the most dedicated men I've ever worked with. Their dedication to Christ, excellence and each other, should be a model for all of us to follow.
