Comptons - “Visions and Dreams”
From the hills of West Virginia comes a group that is slowly beginning to make a name for themselves. Consisting of original member Chuck Compton along with Tim Ooten and Charity Lynn, these three have come together to form a good, solid sound that is sure to turn ears and hearts. Though they have had their share of personnel changes since they first came on the scene with “Beg, Steal or Borrow” about 5 or 6 years ago, they seem to have gelled very well though the current members haven’t been with the group all that long. The up-tempo “THIS SHIP IS MADE TO SAIL” gets the recording off and running and is a definite highlight of the recording. This is one of those songs you’ll be singing all day long and would be an excellent radio song. From here things slow down to a reflective tone as Chuck Compton sings the heartfelt “I’LL BE WAITING FOR YOU.” In keeping with the flow musically, Charity Lynn sings a beautiful prayer in song called “SHEKINAH GLORY.” Bearing the Comptons trademark sound, “MY ROCK” fits the group like a glove, as does the encouraging “WALK THROUGH THE GATE”, which reminds us that though we have tough times down here, things will be much brighter when we walk through the gates of Heaven. “WHERE I WANT TO BE” is in keeping with the theme of Heaven and when listening to the song, you can’t help but become a little homesick. Tim Ooten takes the lead on yet another Heaven song, which was a former Perry Sisters hit back in the mid 80’s called “TALKING ABOUT HEAVEN.” With a spiritual flare, Chuck and Charity do an excellent job on the song “WHERE SHOULD I GO.” One of the most striking songs I have ever heard is the song “THE PROPHECY”. I do not really have the adequate words to describe this haunting song; you simply have to hear it for yourself. It is one of those songs that will leave you with a lot to think about. The song does make me think of the old Cathedrals classic, “The Last Sunday.” Building upon the scripture, “by their fruits ye shall know them”, “BY YOUR FRUITS” is a lively song done in a convention flavor and is sure to be a concert favorite. Rounding out the recording is the song “I’LL HAVE JESUS”, which is done acapella. If you like your gospel with a down home country flavor, then the Comptons are right up your alley. This is one of their best recorded efforts and should do very well for the group. Personal Favs: THIS SHIP IS MADE TO SAIL; I’LL BE WAITING FOR YOU; SHEKINAH GLORY; THE PROPHECY; BY YOUR FRUITS Reader Comments

I am a sinner, my freind Rick Statton let me listen to one of your cds, and out of all my years of listening to gospel music, I have never been so touched in my heart and soul like i have from your music. You see i was rasied in church, i played music and sang in church, some where along the way i strayed from god. it seems every time i listen to your songs i cry like a baby. I cant help it.I maybe fooled on somethings, but feeling the anoiting from music i am not.. i beleave with all my heart, that you guys are truly sent from god. my brother who never liked gospel music gave a listen to a song, BEG STILL OR BORROW. he cryed.. later on he was killed in a car reck. it broke my heart. even now when i hear it, i brake down. if you would be so kind could you send me a adress to buy your cds. i havent seen rick in years or i would get it from him, im useing my wifes email adress, cause i dont have one, please email me back... randall
