As one who has a deep love and appreciation for classic Southern Gospel Music, I have always remained a fan of the Couriers. If there is a group that has an identifiable sound, it's the Couriers. There's just something about their arrangements that give them that unique sound. Staying true to who they are, The Real Deal is just as the title implies.this is the Couriers.and this is the best they've sounded since their hey day back in the 1960s and 1970s. They've put together a solid recording with some cool arrangements to some great old songs and those who enjoy classic Southern Gospel Music will be doing themselves a favor by picking up this latest release from the Couriers.
The Couriers seems to shine the best doing such songs as "I'LL BE READY", "WHERE IS GOD", "SOMEDAY", "I'LL BE SATISFIED" and "HE PAID THE DEBT FOR ME". They showcase a remarkable arrangement on the quartet classic, "HE'S A PERSONAL SAVIOR" and they do a nice job on the acapella, "I'VE FOUND A FRIEND".
Before the recording is over, pianist, Tom Keel provides a solid instrumental rendition of "I WON'T HAVE TO CROSS JORDAN ALONE".
Though some of the music tracks sound a bit synthesized, all in all this is a good, solid recording. Tim, Larry and Brett have a very good vocal blend, and they sound amazingly similar to the Couriers from the late 1960's and 1970's. While the quality of the recording itself isn't what you'd hear coming from studios in Nashville or Asheville, it's a good recording and one that will definitely find its way to my CD player over and over again.
