I am amazed that this male quartet hasn't had the recognition that they deserve. Maybe it's because they aren't flashy, but they can out-sing just about anyone off the stage. Consisting of brothers Boyce and Scott Flener singing lead and tenor respectively, Darren Lawrence on baritone and Mark Mudd singing bass, this fine quartet from Kentucky is one of the classiest sounding groups in Southern Gospel Music today. Southern Gospel Traditionalists will love this group, and they have just enough edge to their sound that those who like the more modern sounds will thoroughly enjoy this group.

Starting with a trio of uptempo songs, the quartet classic, “I BELIEVE IN THE OLD TIME WAY” leads the way, with “HEAVEN WILL BE MINE SOMEDAY” and “I'LL NOT TURN BACK” following, making for a great first impression of how solid this quartet really is before slowing things down for the power ballad, “THANK GOD FOR THE BLOOD”.

Quartet sounds abound on the title song, “I'M MOVIN' AHEAD” before they really show off some beautiful intricate harmonies on “IF YOU KNOW THE LORD”. Quartet purists will literally drool over this song.

Rodney Griffin and Tim Lovelace penned the highly enjoyable song about faith, “YOU'VE GOTTA BELIEVE TO SEE” , which plays opposite on the thought that you have to see it to believe. With this Christian life, sometimes you have to believe before you see.

The classic, “WHEN I COME TO THE END OF THE ROAD” is beyond a doubt, the best performance on the recording. The song builds momentum as it plays through until it reaches a wonderfully high crescendo at the end. It really is a moment!
“I'LL HAVE A NEW LIFE”
is the perpetual quartet favorite, and the Crossmen Quartet gives it excellent treatment with a bit of a twist on the final chorus.

Those who think this group may be stuck in the classic quartet mode, can put those thoughts aside as the group turns in a stellar performance on the Inspirational tune, “WASHED IN THE BLOOD” , written by Tim Pedigo.

This is classy, traditional male quartet music at its finest. I dare say this is one of the most solid and best sounding male quartet out there today. Treat yourself and give these guys a listen. It just doesn't get much better than this!

Personal Favs: I BELIEVE IN THE OLD TIME WAY; I'LL NOT TURN MY BACK; IF YOU KNOW THE LORD; YOU'VE GOTTA BELIEVE TO SEE; WHEN I COME TO THE END OF THE ROAD; I'LL HAVE A NEW LIFE

No doubt, James. You will not find a better sounding traditional quartet in the ministry today. 4 1/2 stars for the album and 5 starts for a live concert. It gets even better in person.

These gentlemen are GREAT and I too wonder why they have not received the recognition they deserve. Their concerts are glorifying to God and an encouragement to the audience. I play their latest CD, every morning on my way to work...what a way to start the day. Thank you Crossmen for your dedication to the Lord and desire to do things first class.

Have loved this group for years and have every recording they've done. What a shame they seem to be Kentucky's best kept secret! Hopefully this review will spark an intrest and introduce new opportunities for this wonderful ministry to grow.
