CrossWay - This I Know
![]() Producers: Michael Sykes & Phil Johnson Reader Comments
I totally agree with Chris that this project is one of the finest I've heard come out this year. For those who haven't purchased it yet, you are missing a real treat. My personal favorite on the project is the title song called "This I Know."
Great job guys!

“Walk on the Water Kind of Day”, though featured some true quartet sounds, allowed Crossway to stretch themselves musically and feature some soulful sounds with a bit of country as well. I respectfully and completely disagree with Chris when he said “No Distractions” was very country and “Walk on Water…” was more traditional. It was quite the opposite. “No Distractions” featured a lot of orchestrations and brass…definitely not country. But I digress… This newest release by Crossway really steps out on a limb musically and vocally for the guys. I know the ads say if you like the Cathedrals or GVB, try this group…I see GVB, but not the Cats; maybe with “No Distractions”, but not with this one. It features a definitive country sound, and the addition of Matt as tenor; the group really takes on a new sound. I would love to hear Matt really get down on a big ballad type song. I really like some of the songs on this recording…”Unscarred”, “No Back Roads”, “This I Know”, “You Are my Riches in Glory” and I LOVE “Long Arm of Love” with the Oaks. That’s a cool song! “It Looks like Love to Me” still has to grow on me. I agree with Chris with the 4 ½ star rating. I like the CD. I still have to keep adjusting myself with groups who constantly are either changing their sound or the evolution of their sound is still taking place. It seems lately that I will find a group that I really enjoy and become a fan of, and then they decide to take a different direction musically. It does get frustrating sometimes for me. But like the old saying, the only thing constant is change.

I love this CD. I can't take it out of my CD player. It has a totally new warm and rich sound that you can listen to all day.

I just finished listening to the new CD and have to agree with the review...a strong 4.5 star effort. The first single, "Looks Like Love To Me" is the best blending of the old style SG music and modern/progressive SG to be found today. This song is as progressive as anything that the Crabbs or the Martins have done and every bit as good. The production and over "sound" of this CD is top notch. It is a must have for any SG music fan. GOOD STUFF!

this nesw CD is not what I expected from , the last 2 CD'S were just good quartet sounding with great material, this new one to me does not seem to be southern gospel , quartet sounding. Its more like Mid-South boys type singing, a country flavor more than quartet singing. You really can"t hear always the four part sound on this cd. I"m not sure the direction is new for you all, but I don"t hear the Cathredrals or GVB at all, maybe this cd is testing the new waters , I like your quartet sounds of the last 2 Cd better.

When I first saw Crossway, I thought they were just another musical group. Soon I found out that they were not any ordanary musical group. I saw Crossway when they came to NBC (my church). I liked all the songs on their CD's. I'm sure you will like their CD's too! JUST LIKE ME!!!!

I can't say enough good things about Crossway. We have all their albums and travel to see them every time they are in driving distance. Along with their beautiful music they bring a wonderful evangelistic message. Matt McFarland has been a wonderful addition.I'm sure they will go far.
