Hailing from the state of Ohio, Day 3 is a mixed trio consisting of husband and wife team Scott & Sheri Noel and Joey Darling. They possess a very progressive style that fans of the Martins, Hopes Call and the like would probably really enjoy. While they definitely have a Southern Gospel base to their sound, there definitely is some light contemporary mixed in there.

Electric guitars and a strong drum beat kicks off the title track, "THIS HAPPY" before things move on to a cool intro for another upbeat tune, "DOWN THIS ROAD ALONE", which was written by Scott Noel, as was the Praise & Worship tinged, "WHEN I SPEAK YOUR NAME". Keeping things in slow mode, we come to a song about faith entitled, "GO WITHOUT KNOWING" (I really like the message in this song) before the pace picks back up for the Noel/Kevin Stokes penned, "JESUS LIFE", which is a really cool tune.

The pace slows back down for the worshipful "I'LL CRY HOLY", which is another song from Noel's pen, while Patty Hawkins wrote the funky tune, "FROM MY WANT TO YOUR WILL" as well as the upbeat, "WHEN THINGS AREN'T GOING MY WAY".

"I WILL" is probably the best vocal performance on the recording as well as a great song of promise, while the reflective, "EVERY ONCE IN A LIFETIME" reminds us that God gives us tender moments in our lives to treasure and they are all once in a lifetime experiences. The upbeat John Darin Rowsey penned, "PEOPLE OF THE LORD" leads into a final reflective tune, "QUIETLY", which was also recently recorded by Cheri Taylor.

I love the music tracks and think they are absolutely kickin'. Quiet honestly, if someone else had sung the lyrics to these tracks . . . say someone like Hopes Call, LordSong, Martins or someone of the like, I probably would have given this recording at least 4 and 1/2 stars, with 5 stars not being out of the realm of possibility. While they are not bad singers by any stretch of the imagination, the tracks just don't match the vocals. They lack that certain UMPH, if that makes any sense. I haven't heard their previous works, so I'll assume with Kevin Stokes at the helm, this recording is a major step above their previous recording. I love the concept and packaging of the CD and every other element of the recording from the music to the lyrics are a class act.

Personal Favs:THIS HAPPY; DOWN THIS ROAD ALONE; JESUS LIFE; FROM MY WANT TO YOUR WILL; I WILL

While I haven't heard this CD yet, I am very anxious to! Day 3, originally ByGrace, started out in our homechurch here in Ohio. We miss them but I'm so proud of what they're doing for God. It's so awesome to see their CD being reviewed on here smile Scott, Sheri, Joey- keep up the good work!!

Day 3 ...

What an awesome group and a great sound. I have this cd and the writing and producing on this project are great. Kevin Stokes and Eddie Howard show their truly awesome creativity and with great mixes by Glenn Tabor ... it really makes it all come together, giving this a somewhat inspo sound. Add to this such gifted writers as Becky Smith, Scott Noel, Lowell Alexander, Kevin Stokes, Patti Hawkins, Jimmey Dooley, Tony Wood, Dave Clark, and John D Rowsey ... and you have a project that is a cut above many out there in our gospel music today. Day 3 ... keep the music coming ... and be blessed.

Sincerely,
In Christ ... and so glad I am!!!

Scott, Sheri & Joey have a great project here. Their first single, "Jesus Life", will hit radio in mid-June on the DJ Man Hit Singles Volume 19. Listen for it. You'll be blessed

Great trio! Great sound! I've heard this group live several times and they are professional. You can also feel the Spirit in their testimonies and songs. The blend of their voices is excellent. Very talented bunch! God bless!

I have been a big fan of Day 3/By Grace for many years and have every CD. They have come so far yet continue to be as humble and God-centered as ever. They sound incredible live, too. So glad to see Scott writing some of the songs. I love these guys and am eternally proud of them!
