Duvall Family – Live at Dry Valley
![]() Producer: Eddie Crook I first became familiar with this family late last year. I fell in love with their laid back sound and spiritual feel in their music. They aren't flashy, but there's a lot of spirit in what they do. This live recording was done in familiar territory, as it was done at the Duvall's home church, Dry Valley Baptist Church and judging by crowd reaction, you can tell that these people love the Duvall Family. Coming out to a lively welcome, the group starts off with the medium tempo, “I HAVE NO DOUBT” , which is also a current chart song for Tony McGee & New Covenant . The song was written by a great young writer named Stephen Phillips of the Phillips Family and he also penned the following two songs, “THE GROUND IS LEVEL” and “MORE GRACE”, which are both very well done. Next we come to a beautiful song of comfort previously recorded by the Comptons called, “I'LL GO ON FOR YOU” before things move on the shouter “I NEED NO MANSIONS HERE”. A couple of other songs that fall into the “shouting and running the aisle” vein are the songs, “I STAND AMAZED” and “I'M DYING LIKE I'M GONNA LIVE ”. Providing a very tender and emotional moment, “A MIRACLE” is a song that will be very hard to listen to without tears coming to your eyes. The mood remains the same as the group sings, “DADDY'S SHOES”. Other songs on the recording include “THAT'S ENOUGH” and “THAT NIGHT”. The recording closes with an acapella rendition of the classic, “THANK YOU LORD FOR YOUR BLESSINGS ON ME” and the recording fades to silence as we're left with the audience singing the chorus of this great song. Overall, this is a very good recording. I liked their previous recording, “Keep Your Eyes on the Master” , but this new live one really adds a new dimension to their music for me. I find them very exciting in concert, and they have a strong campmeeting feel to their music and they know how to “have church!” You won't find them screaming and singing pitches all over the place, but their music does have a strong spiritual and emotional quality to it. My one observation is that there are no uptempo songs on this recording at all. Every song falls into the slow to medium tempo range. But despite that fact, it's a very good recording and solid all the way around. Personal Favs: I HAVE NO DOUBT; MORE GRACE; I NEED NO MANSIONS HERE; I STAND AMAZED; I'M DYING LIKE I'M GONNA LIVE; DADDY'S SHOES Reader Comments

The Duvall Family will sing their way right into your heart. They have been featured guests in our church twice and we look forward to having them again. If you have not been in a service with Jeff, Amy, and Clay you have missed a great evening of praise. I am anxious to get my own copy of this latest recording.
