Five Broke Single Boys
Talk about an interesting title for a CD, now this one has it. Five guys got together with an idea to maybe help raise some money for The Southern Gospel Music Association. This CD consists of singers from two highly recognizable groups, the Florida Boys and the Dixie Echoes, Gene McDonald, Scoot Shelnut, Billy Hodges, Josh Garner, and Stewart Varnado make up this formidable quartet. I believe they refer to themselves as a “scrap iron” quartet. This is not a high production project, you simply get four guys and a piano player, but the song selection and the enthusiasm that they perform with makes you enjoy it none the less. Songs include classics like “What A Lovely Name”, “First Day In Heaven”, “What A Day That Will Be”, “In The Sweet Forever”, and “Everybody Will Be Happy Over There”. Other songs include “The Lighthouse”, “Victory Road”, “Boundless Love”, and Walking The Sea.” All five guys get featured on some of the songs so there is truly something for everybody on this CD Rating: Reader Comments
Though I don't always admit it, I am a closet quartet lover. I am going to have to say that THIS CD deserves 5 stars in my opinion. It is simple, no overproduction, just piano and voices and boy, can these youngin's can SING!

After we review the CD with written descriptions, we then give it a star rating, ranging from 1 to 5 stars. 1 star would be a very poor CD, while 5 stars would be an excellent CD.
