I have been steadily following the Frosts' music over the last couple of years and I have watched and listened to them grow as singers and songwriters.  I predict Michael Frost will become the next Gerald Crabb, Rodney Griffin or Kyla Rowland.  Just watch and see.  I love the style of the Frosts.  Consisting of cousins Michael and Candie Frost along with powerhouse vocalist, Brenda Cornett, they have a very strong and robust sound and pretty much approach each song with that mindset.  As I have mentioned in past reviews of their music, the Frosts have a big, Pentecostal campmeeting sound with a bit of soul and a bit of country.

The anthem, "AUTHOR & FINISHER" is a call to the church to rise and proudly proclaim Christ as Lord and take back what has been taken from us.  The pace picks up for the title song, "GOD'S GONNA GIVE YOU A TESTIMONY", which features Brenda.  I hear so much more musically, in both these songs and would have loved to hear these two songs with a bigger arrangement.

Michael sings the reassuring "IN THE ARMS OF MERCY", reminding us that "in the arms of Mercy, in the hands of Grace, we find comfort, peace and rest, and a refuge safe, we can find compassion in our darkest, lowest place…in the arms of Mercy, in the hands of Grace."  Things then get kicked into high gear with "WHO WILL SHOUT THE LOUDEST", a song recorded recently by the Sons Family.

We've all been in a place where things seemed so bleak, that we could not pray.  The song, "WHEN I COULD NOT PRAY", which features Candie, is a humble reminder that when we do reach those rough times, God puts people in our lives to lift us up and pray on our behalf.

The campmeeting fervor of "SOME MORNING I SHALL STAND" leads into the uptempo "THE STORY UNTOLD".  Things slow down a bit for the next two songs, "WHILE ON MY WAY TO YOU" and "HE LEFT THE MULTITUDE".  Both songs are about the love of God, but from different perspectives.

The final two songs are the only songs not written by Michael Frost.  Those songs, "I REMEMBER THE DAY" made popular by the Perrys 17 years ago and "GOD IS GREATER THAN THE NEED" made popular by the Livingstons a few years ago are great inclusions.

I really believe the Frosts will be a major force within the industry someday.  Each recording brings them closer to that level.  I wish they would get more attention on radio than they currently do and I believe that this recording is a great stepping-stone for them.  Great songs, great vocals and adequate tracks (I would have liked to see a bit more arranging) make this a really great recording.

Personal Favs: AUTHOR & FINISHER; GOD'S GONNA GIVE YOU A TESTIMONY; IN THE ARMS OF MERCY; WHEN I  COULD NOT PRAY; HE LEFT THE MULTITUDE
