Gatlin Brothers - A Christmas Celebration
They start with one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time, “I Have Seen The Light”, and it is performed as well as I have ever heard it performed. The expression in this song speaks volumes. It is rather curious that this fine Country group doesn’t have one secular song on this CD, but every song is meaningful and full of the spirit of the season. “No Star Tonight” is an interesting song in that it compares Bethlehem of the time at the birth of Christ with the troublesome times she is having today. This song is thought provoking to say the least. “I Have Held My King” is a stirring ballad of the many feelings that Mary had as she was holding her baby and her King. Once again the expressions vocally are wonderful. “Heaven’s Child” and “Mary, Did You Know?” both have a bit of a contemporary feel, but crossover well to the Southern Gospel feel. The CD includes two familiar Christmas Carols including “The First Noel” and “Carol Of The Bells”. There is a tremendous message in “All We Like Sheep” and the intent of the song is captured in their voices. The CD closes with a beautiful song written by Larry Gatlin and sang a capella, simply titled “Alleluia” Homeland Entertainment Group Rating Reader Comments
These guys were raised in my city. I have not heard this release as yet but will obtain it as soon as it is available here. They have always done a great job with their talents. Atta-boy! Gatlins, keep it up.
