Jake Hess Jr - Jake Hess Jr
Following his father’s footsteps, Jake Hess Jr is going to use the talents that God has given him. Jake shows on this CD that he is not only a great singer, but he also has some wonderful songwriting abilities. Jake has not tried to emulate his father, but he is true to himself on this recording. There is a nice variety of songs and stylings on this CD. “Can Heaven Wait” is a song about how quickly the time in our lives slips away and how we need to be about our Father’s business. “Above It All” is an up beat number with a message of encouragement. “If Angels Sleep” is a song not only dedicated to his children, but they also join him on the recording. “Let There Be” is shared as a duet by Judy Martin Hess, Jake’s lovely wife. “Cry Me A River” has a bit of a “folksy” sound while “In A Field Of Blue” is a beautiful song about our Nation and is a terrific salute to our land. The song “Solomon’s Porch” is a neat song with a great message. Showing that Jake can hold on to his roots, “Tell ‘Em” is as Southern Gospel as it gets. This is my favorite cut on the CD, and I think it would make a great radio cut. Did I mention that Jake Hess Sr also shares the spotlight on this song? This song is worth the price of the CD, but there are plenty of other great songs on it. Reader Comments
It was a very pleasant surprise to see Jake Jr. with this project. After seeing him work with his dad, I know his work ethic, and lazy he is not. I am glad to see him continue in his family's tradition. Thanks Snake!

 Jake,
glad to hear that you are following in your dad's footsteps in singing. Let me add to recent comments from around the world relating to your father. I began to follow your father's career in the late fifties while in high school. While in the military in the early sixties, was stunned to see him leave the Statesmen, but soon realized that he made a good move. After all these years following him and southern gospel, I was privileged to meet him at the first Gaither homecoming concert in Chattanooga, Tn. He was as has been said so many times, a gentleman of the first order. On our way home that night, my wife asked how I liked the concert. My reply....It would have been worth the trip if all I had done was meet "Jake". We along with the southern gospel world are sure gonna miss him. Bill Hammonds

Hi Jake Jr.,
I am from Michigan, and finding Southern Gospel Music is very hard to find up here, and I was wondering if there is a website were I could order your cd? My dad (He's from Georgia)grew up listening to the Statesmen, the Stamps and the Blackwood Brothers, and he got me hooked on them too. They are the best of the best. I was just curious, would you ever consider doing a tribute cd to your dad, singing his greatest hits? I wouldn't think you would want to copy him, just sing his songs with your voice. My personalfavorites are "Prayer Is The Key TO Heaven", Climbing Higher and Higher", "Lord, I Want To Go To Heaven", and "Somethin' Within'. I believe you would do a great job. Thank you for your time, and I hope I will hear from you soon, about ordering your cd. Have a great day! Michelle
