While Gospel Music takes on different forms, I doubt that any would disagree that the style of Elvis Presley easily fits into the Southern Gospel mode.It takes about two syllables to determine that Elvis had a great influence on the vocal stylings of Jerry Deewood. I think that it is more of a natural sound than an imitation of Elvis, but if you like Elvis you're going to love Jerry Deewood. He sings with the same style and energy of Elvis Presley.

This CD is especially interesting because all of the songs except one are penned by noted Imperial Tenor and former Elvis backup singer Sherrill "Shaun" Nielsen. Shaun also sings on most of the songs with Jerry. Adding even more to the atmosphere of this recording it was recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN, where Elvis did many of his early recordings.

Starting with the very first song "Keep On Keeping On", the duet of Jerry and Shaun is full of energy with a little old fashioned rock and roll drive to the track. This toe tapping tune sets up the feel for the whole CD.

"To SherRee" is a song written by Shaun Nielsen dedicated to his only daughter who was tragically killed in 1985 by a drunk driver. What a touching and comforting song that will reach the hearts of many people who have suffered loss.

Take two singers who love that old 60s rock and roll sound and you are bound to get a song that lets you know that they think that the "Heavenly Choir Sing Rock and Roll". This is just a fun song that old timers are sure to get into.

One of my favorite Shaun Neilsen songs is one he wrote and performed with the Statesmen Quartet. Jerry and Shaun do a wonderful job on "Shout Hallelujah"

"In My Valleys" is a beautiful ballad in which Shaun again joins Jerry in a powerful duet, while "His Love" and "This Time It's Personal" are songs you need your running shoes on for. All three of these songs are very uplifting in their message and will brighten your day.

The final song "Reflections" was written by Jerry Deewood is a song on Jerry's "reflection" of life.
