Your group had a big year in 2004 both professionally and personally. Fill everyone in on what has happened with the group!

2004 was the most incredible year for the JBIF. We witnessed God's faithfulness first hand. Our album, “God Writes Our Story”, came out this year and the impact of it was so amazing. Stephanie's songwriting took off along with the musical capabilities of the rest of the family. God has brought us into many new areas into a new audience that loves her writing and our style. We thank God for that.

What's next up to bat for your group? In other words, what do you see in the immediate future for your ministry?

The next big adventure is the west coast!! God has opened the door for us to tour the west coast in places like Arizona, New Mexico, and California. We're very excited. Also, we'll be going in the studio pretty soon to start work on yet another album. Stephanie has been writing like crazy and the family is ready to work.

Tell us about your new single. Word on the street is that it is doing well. Any stories about how well it is doing or lives it is touching?

“Nothing's Too Hard for God”, has definitely touched many lives, but the life or lives it has touched the most is our own. When the song came to us, we were just at a point in ministry where we needed to hear from God. The way started looking uncertain along side of people sharing where they thought we should go. We started to pray and this song came. It helped us to understand that God has seen bigger things than this and it never bothered Him. He doesn't sit in heaven worrying about what to do next. He knows. So if we'll stay close, soon we'll know.

What are the long term plans for your group. What's the future hold for your group?

Definitely whatever God opens up next. We would love to be able instead of just going into churches, singing, and leaving, be able to stay a little longer and minister to every area of the church. Youth groups, young married couples, older married couples and everybody in between. We all have a testimony that proclaims Christ ands His mercy. Basically being the body and encouraging the body. We're so excited about whatever God puts in our path next.

Tell us about your worst and best concert experiences lately. Something the fan will love to know about you!

The worst…hmm…ah yes. We sang in a high school in south Georgia not too long ago that had these huge cockroaches roaming the halls. Seriously, they had to be about three or four inches in length. We were singing and Jeremy had left his guitar case sitting in the wing of the stage wide open. Right in the middle of Jody's testimony, Jeremy runs off stage and the next thing your hear is a loud “SQUASH”. One had tried to crawl into his case and he saw it out of the corner of his eye. The whole audience knew what had happened and died laughing. That was bad and yet really funny.

The best… we had the opportunity to see a little orphaned boy come to know Christ at one of our concerts. That was really amazing. The next week, we got to witness the salvation of a sixty- three year old man that everyone had given up on. God is really awesome!!

Jody Brown Indian Family2002/CrossRoads Records

One family that is really starting to make a solid name for themselves is the Jody Brown Indian Family.  Though I highly respect them as artists and ministers of music, I have never really been able to “get into” their music.  That was until the day I heard their single “WHERE IS YOUR FAITH” on the radio.  This was the song that made me sit up and take notice!  I believe this recording is going to be the recording that will put the Jody Brown Indian Family on the map.  This will be their break out recording.  Just watch and see!

Outside of their current hit single “WHERE IS YOUR FAITH”, there are several other excellent songs on this recording.  One such song that really struck a chord with me is the song “THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN.”  Although a former single for Ricky Atkinson and Compassion, Stephanie Brown does an absolutely marvelous job on this song, and I wish it could be a single possibility for the group.  Other songs to pay close attention to are “GET UP OUT OF THAT GRAVE”, “THE COMMON MAN” and “WHAT HE SAID HE’D DO.”  All three of the aforementioned songs would be excellent choices for singles.  But the great music doesn’t stop there either.  “JESUS IS ALL THAT I NEED”, “HEAVENLY PLACE”, “HE IS EVERYTHING”, “GOD HAS NOT CHANGED” and “I’VE BEEN TO HEAVEN” are all worth a good listen as well.

The Jody Brown Indian Family definitely has a style all their own and they take a more laid back approach in their delivery of Southern Gospel Music, and they are constantly winning fans over with it. I have found this group to be very consistent, and in a world of constant change, it is nice to see a family consistently living for the Lord and sharing His love through their music.
