Kim Ballestero – Sing
![]() Producer: Kevin McManus Kim Ballestero is a name that was unfamiliar to me until recently. Hailing from the Sunshine state of Florida, her musical style is a fusion of Southern Gospel, Praise & Worship and Inspirational. She does very well for her style and though I haven't heard any of her previous works, I think this recording really exemplifies her style, vocally and musically. With a musical background that includes singing with Lanny Wolfe, you can definitely hear his influence on her style throughout the recording. The upbeat title song, “SING”, starts the recording off with its disco connotations before moving on to the Praise & Worship stylings of “NO ONE ELSE”. The medium feel of “GOD IS IN CONTROL” is one of the more memorable moments for me and the song gently reminds us that God doesn't need our help in figuring things out, because He's got it all in control. The following song, “DEPERATE”, though musically is separate from the popular P&W song, “Breathe”, runs very similar message-wise. It's a good song; it just doesn't strike me as an original thought. Several songs fall into the Praise & Worship style, and those who are really into P&W will really enjoy “THE WORSHIP MEDLEY”, “MEDLEY OF PRAISE”, “FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE”, “BEYOND THE OPEN DOOR” (I like the Spanish flavor of the song), “MY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD” and the upbeat “HIGHER” , which closes out the recording. Kim wrote all but one song on this recording and they are all well written songs and the vocals and music tracks are very well done. Kim has a nice quality about her voice that can go from being very quiet and reserved to loud and boisterous all in the same song. As I have stated in past reviews, I am not a big fan of Praise & Worship music, though I do appreciate and respect it, it's just not my cup of tea. Most of this recording does fall into that category, and those who enjoy that style, may very well enjoy this recording. Personal Favs: SING; GOD IS IN CONTROL; FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE; HIGHER Reader Comments
She has an awsome voice. Everyone should get her CD.
