I've said it before many times in my reviews of the McGruders' music, and I'll say it again just in case you missed it last time.but there are but only a few people I respect as much as I do Carroll & Priscilla McGruder. I may be badly fooled, but I don't believe you could find any finer people who have a heart for ministry as the McGruders. Their music is a testament about where they've been, where they're at and where they're going, and they deliver that message with such fervor and conviction, you can't help but become absorbed about the message in their music. This latest recording features 9 songs penned by Carroll along with Rick Hargrove, as well as one penned by daughter, Shawnee McGruder-Trowbridge, and all have that unmistakable McGruders sound.

Priscilla starts things off with the easy country feel of "HEAVEN TOO" before Carroll kicks things up into high gear in typical McGruders fashion with "I JUST DON'T FEEL LIKE GIVING UP TODAY".

Not many singers can render a soulful performance, but Priscilla pulls it off without a hitch and makes "TAKE IT TO JESUS" one of the true highlights of the recording. Priscilla has always been one of my favorite singers because you can always feel what she is singing about and she has some other great songs on this recording including, "GOD IS LOVE", "GRACE FOR THE RACE", the uptempo "FAST RIDE HOME" and the heart rendering, "CHANGE ME LORD", which is the triumph of the entire recording. Priscilla is made for songs like this and is one of her grandest performances.

Lest we forget about Carroll, he takes the lead on the country swing feel of, "THE RIGHT ROAD HOME". Carroll has always had a knack for writing story songs, and "NOT THE RICHEST MAN" is a perfect example as he tells the story of a rich man and how he really wasn't that rich after all. Carroll is also featured on "IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PRAISE", which is one of the better songs on this recording.

Having long been a fan of the McGruders since I was in high school (wow.that's 18 years ago!), I am always excited when they have a new recording coming out. While I wouldn't consider this they're greatest musical work, as for me the songs here do tend to run together. But it's a good solid recording, and fans of the McGruders will definitely find a lot to enjoy.

The McGruders are true examples of people who have been through the mountains and valleys of life and ministry. I applaud their sincerity and undying devotion to God and Gospel music.
