Merciful Heart - “Get Ready”
‘Country as fried cornbread’ is the best way to describe the sound of Merciful Heart. Hailing from the Lexington area of North Carolina, this male trio has a really good recording on their hands. If you like your Southern Gospel with a heavy country sound, then this is your group. Now, when I say country, I don’t mean Crabb Family country, I mean ‘old’ country, maybe with a hint of Charlie Daniels. They do a super job at what they do and one thing that sets them apart is they write their own songs. All the songs on this recording were either written by Jeffrey Purdue or Scott Pierce. There are no shabby songs found here, and each song makes a statement. Songs range from the up tempo on “GET READY”, “I WANT MY LIFE TO BE A WITNESS”, “JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY” and “I CAN FEEL ANOTHER BLESSING” and the medium tempo on “JUST GO TO JESUS”, “HE’S COMING BACK”, “THE LORD’S GREAT BAND” and “THE GREATEST MIRACLE.” The two slower songs on the recording are probably the two better songs. “THANKS FOR CALVARY” features baritone Scott Beck and offers a simple thank you for the Lord dying on the cross for our sins. My favorite song on this recording, however is the song called, “SHELTER FROM THE RAIN,” featuring Scott. I love the message in this song, as the main hook of the song is as if the Lord were speaking directly to you saying, “I’m the God of your salvation, I’m your shelter from the rain.” I will be the first to admit, that I am not a huge fan of the style that Merciful Heart sings, but I can appreciate their music and the work they do for the Kingdom. With that said, that doesn’t mean they aren’t good, as I said earlier, they do very well at what they do. Learn more about them on the web: www.mercifulheart.com Rating: Reader Comments |
