Monica Rivae is young lady that hails from Smyrna, Tennessee. Her latest, self titled, project features a blend of classic songs with a few new ones thrown in. Monica has a nice, easy listening voice.

She kicks the project off with the Ralph Carmichael classic, “Reach Out to Jesus”. She adds a little bit of a country touch to this old ballad. She follows up with the great old Elmo Mercer tune, “The Way That He Loves”. “I Am”, written by Greg Coleman, is ballad number three to kick off the project.

“That’s How Blessed I Am” finally picks the tempo up and is a refreshing change of pace. This song has a little bluesy feel to it and was written by Jeffrey Ferguson, John Mathis and Toni Jolene Clay. Monica has included the great Larry Gatlin tune, “Help Me”. I have always loved Larry Gatlin songs for their chord progressions. She stays true to the earlier recordings of this song.

“Your Mercy’s All I Need” is a pretty Country ballad written by Gaylon Parker. The team of Ferguson, Mathis and Clay has written another song for the project, “Touch of Grace”. “I’ll Never Turn Back” picks the tempo up and is a nice mid tempo song written by Dottie Rambo. The lead vocal on this song seems to have been mixed lower than the rest of the project.

It’s been many years since I’ve heard the Lou Hildreth, David Ingles song, “Now I Have Everything”. I have always enjoyed this song and Monica sings it well. She has chosen the Aaron Wilburn, Eddie Crook song, “That Sounds like Home to Me” to close the album. This song, made famous by Vestal Goodman, is a great old song and even has Johnny Minnick singing background on it to give it that Goodman sound.

Monica has a very pleasant voice and she sings on pitch and with nice feeling. That being said, this project left me wanting more. As a singer, I would rather sing ballads but I also realize that the ebb and flow of an album or concert is very important. This project, while technically good, never fully caught my attention, due to the lack of up tempo material. A change of pace would have been nice here and there.

This woman has truly inspired me!!! I was in the Christian bookstore one sunny afternoon (but my life was meaningless and dark feeling) and then all of a sudden I heard this still small voice telling me "Annie... go down the CD aisle" so I went. My hand was directly guided down to this beustiful young lady's CD. I had just enough money in my worn out pocket to purchase this masterpiece. And as soon as I inserted it into my humble little cd player BAM!!!..The powerful lyrics and extraordinary voice hit me like a freight train sending shivers down to my very soul. The dark clouds in my life broke and I was a new woman. Thank you Miss. Monica for following God's call and making this the most inspirational and moving CD I have ever heard in my life. My life's dream is to meet you one day. You are my hero.

The Comment from Annie Morgan is what life is all about. When you can say that you have made a differance in one life it is so worth it all.
Often we hear children say, "when I grow up, I want to be just like Dad or Mom". It may sound strange because here I am nearing 50 but if I every grow up I would like to be just like Monica.

I have had the pleasure of working with Monica. She is a wonderful Christian lady and I am grateful she is part of my life. The CD is inspirational and it never hurts to have some country added to music. Please give it a listen; you won't regret it.

Monica Rivae has truly changed my life. Before I purchased this CD, I was a depressed and lonely woman. I felt like there was no purpose for my life. Everyday felt like a cold Winters night in December. But not the kind where all of your relatives are cheerfully shopping for Christmas gifts, but the kind where you're all alone on the side of the road and don't have enough chicken noodle soup to warm your insides.

I was wandering around my local Target Super Center when I came accross this spectacular display of musical genius. It was the last one left, so I quickly ran to get it when out of no where, a young girl(looking to be about 15 years of age)with long, blonde, curly hair snatched the CD before my very eyes. But luckily, while she was looking at oversized luggage, I grabbed the CD fom her overflowing basket.
When I later arrived at my home, I loaded the CD into Itunes and listened to each track 7 times. With tears rolling down my face, I googled Monica Rivae to see if there was any way possible to cantact her to let her know how much she has truly changed my life. So I am hoping and praying that Monica will someday read this review. Then she'll know that she really has made a difference in someones life.

And precious, misguided Annie, We don't worship people just because of their vast talent. God is my hero!! And should be yours as well.
