Separated at birth?

Is it just me? Every time I see this pic of Harold Timmons I wonder if these two were separated at birth? :D

Unfortunately I couldn’t find a good picture of the second, but he was on Seinfeld and is on Family Feud.

Need some recommendations on booking…

I’m in charge of booking a group for my church homecoming. We’ve usually had regional and local acts but the last couple years we had The Dove Bro’s year before last and Gold City last year.

Our people really like the quartet sound the best. I personally don’t care if it’s quartet, trio, mixed group, etc. I’d like a pro group that will give us our money’s worth. Gold City was phenom. Dove Bro’s did ok, but they seemed to be in a hurry and really rushed things…

Any recommendations?

Recently I made a post about the so-called “lp resurrection”. Well, it got me thinking…are there any lps and/or cassettes that you would like to see reissued on cd? None of the big SG labels in the 70s and 80s have reissued all of their catalog on cd. So I will start..

01 1981 Gold City Qt’s “I’ve Got A Feeling”
02 1983 Gold City Qt’s “I Think I’ll Read It Again”
03 1984 Gold City Qt’s “Walk On”
04 1985 Gold City Qt’s “Sing With The Angels”

01 1975-1979 Florida Boys lps with Jerry Trammell. So far, I have only seen one reissued: “Vintage Gospel” from 1977.

01 1980-1988 all Inspirations lps from that time period.

01 1975-1988 All Heavenbound lps from that time period.

Any body else have any suggestions?

I have lovingly owned Birmingham Alabama’s Own Steel City Quartet for the past 10 years. Yes, SteelcityLead is our lead singer. We are a busy well established regional quartet averaging about 70 dates per year. You can hear the current quartet @ myspace/steel city quartet . Gaither Vocal Band - Peace Of The Rock

Does anyone have this CD, and what is your opinion of it? I wouldn’t call the album as a whole a southern gospel album, although there are a couple songs that could qualify as such. Mark Lowry mentioned in his “Live Long and Die Laughing” book that this CD didn’t sell as well as anticipated, partly because people didn’t really expect such a progressive sound from the group at that time.

Any thoughts?

Jimmy Carter Cake

OK, strange name for a dessert, but it is awesome. Somewhat a pain to make all the layers, but worth it:
Jimmy Carter Cake (or peanut butter pudding dessert)
First layer:1 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 sticks of oleo
3/4 cups peanuts

Second layer:1 cup powdered sugar
1 8 oz cream cheese
1 8 oz cool whip
2/3 cup peanut butter

Third layer
1 package of chocolate instant pudding
1 package of vanilla instant pudding
3 cups of milk
Top layer: 8 oz cool whip, chocolate bar

First layer: mix ingredients together and spread into a 9 by 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes until done. Cool completely.

Second layer: mix sugar, softened cheese, & cool whip, spread over the bottom layer

Third layer: beat the 2 puddings together with 3 cups of milk, pour over second layer

Top layer: top with cool whip, and if desired, sprinkle with grated Hershey bar, or chocolate of some kind. Refrigerate 2-3 hours

Sad day yesterday

Yesterday was a sad day at our house. Our 15 yo Yorkie suddenly got ill at 10 AM and by 12:30 we had made a trip to an emergency vet 45 min. away and our beloved Fiona was in doggie heaven and we were on our way home. My head’s still spinning!
