Back in the 1970’s, I had the chance to meet Oren Paris, who sang with the Stamps Quartet in the 1940s and briefly with the Blackwood Brothers, perhaps as a fill in, but he’s mentioned in James Blackwood’s autobiography. What confuses me is this: there was a much older gentleman and SG Hall of Famer named Oren A PARRISH, and this confused me for years. THIS Oren PARIS was about 70 in the 1970’s and is, I believe, Twila Paris’ grandfather (her dad was Oren Paris II.)

Does anybody know anything about Oren Paris?

Chris,

I knew of the Hall of famer and knew his daughter, I worked for OA Paris grandson in Jasper, Al.  and later rented a duplex from the daughter and what is kinda crazy but in the duplex next to mine was non other than the widow of O.A Paris.  I don’t recall ever hearing that there was another Oren Paris in that family. Probably another set of Paris. I thin k they were from Arkasas.

The SGMA Hall of Famer was Oren A. Parris, with 2 Rs. and he was from Jasper, Alabama. The man I’m talking about is Oren Paris with 1 R, and that family is from Arkansas. Twila Paris’ dad was Oren Paris II, and her brother is Oren Paris III.
