Dave Foraker, nicknamed "The BluesFiddler" during his lengthy career on the blues circuit, recently announced that he is teaming up with the newly-formed "Emmaus Road Vocal Band". Foraker's newest recording, "Thank The Lord", is receiving airplay on Southern Gospel- & Contemporary Christian-formatted radio stations across the U.S.A.

"On the blues circuit, the vocals & the story line are just a set-up for the hot guitar, the harmonica.. or in my case, the violin. But, as a music ministry, the vocals & the message in the lyrics must be out front. I've discovered that blues music & Southern Gospel share many of the same forms, chord patterns, etc..., but the high intensity attack of most blues guitarists prevent the message from being heard, or at least understood. So, I decided to change the format surrounding the music."

"Emmaus Road is a 5-piece band of multi-talented musicians & vocalists... each member having a heart for evangelism. And as soon as God brought us together, He opened the doors of opportunity for us. "

Dave Foraker & The Emmaus Road Vocal Band are: Dave Foraker-violin, vocals, piano; Nathan Flint-drums, percussion, vocals; Janelle Flint-vocals, flute, piano; Jim Morgan-bass, guitar, vocals; Sarah Shook-vocals, guitar, piano, saxophone; Matthew Kennedy-piano, guitar, vocals.

The groups music is a blend of standard hymns, Negro Spirituals, Southern Gospel classics & original songs penned by group members.

I am so glad to see that others are discovering the music of Dave Foraker. With his entry onto The Singing News Top 80 (Nothing But The Blood - #66), I'm sure it's going to have a snowball effect on his career. It definitely isn't an overnight sensation type of story, as I first heard him in the late seventies. He has gotten better and better as I've followed his career over the years.
