BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – GMA Hall of Fame Inductee and former member of the Imperials, Pam Morales-Dietz, was fatally injured in a car accident and died later at the hospital on Saturday, August 27, 2005. Pam was the sister of founding member of the Imperials, Armond Morales, and aunt of current member, Jason Morales.
Pam had the distinction of being the only female member of The Imperials in the 42 year history of the group. She sang tenor for the group from 1991-1993 and was on the Big God and Stir It Up recordings released by Star Song Records.
In the past few years, Pam was on staff at First Assembly of God in Bakersfield, California. The Imperials performed there twice in the last two years (most recently on August 7, 2005), and Pam was a big fan of the new generation of the group. Following a recent concert there, Pam sent the following note: "The church was just thrilled with the concert. I pray that the gifts God has given you all touches the whole world. Keep up the good work!"
“While we are obviously saddened at this loss to The Imperials family (and more importantly to the Morales family), we rejoice in knowing that Pam is with Jesus, and we will see her again when we all sing His praises together in heaven,” said Shannon Smith of the Imperials. “We ask special prayer for Armond and the whole Morales family.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced within the coming days.
