Les Butler of Family Music Group, Butler Music Group and Solid Gospel Radio, has accepted the position as the new Director of Business Operations for the Singing News Magazine. He will begin duties effective November 1, 2005.

Butler says: "I was offered an opportunity that I would have never expected in my entire life. As with every change that’s happened in my life, I attacked it with much prayer and fasting. Actually, I’ve never prayed about any move in my life, as much as I have this one. Just ask my wife, she’ll tell you about my early morning prayer sessions, sleepless nights, etc. Simply stated, this has been the most difficult decision in my professional life."

After 27 years as a DJ, Butler says his work will now entail ways of growing the Singing News subscriber base and accelerating the growth of southern gospel music. He adds: "I will also be working through ways to bring synergy between the Singing News and the Solid Gospel radio network and those plans will be more fully announced in the days ahead. In addition, I will still be on the air, part-time, hosting weekend mid-days on Solid Gospel."

The Family Music Group and Butler Music Group labels will be retired.

We will post more information as we receive it.

Les,

Taking over an existing successful bright star in the industry, needed some sleepless nights, restless moments and early morning meetings with the Lord. But I believe this has led you to the confirmation of moving the Singing News to greater heights.

Our prayers for you and family

After working with several people in the industry, I have found that Les Butler has done more than people will ever know for Southern Gospel. His honesty and integrity are above and beyond! We are proud to see the legacy of the Singing News Magazine will be under such direction of great leadership. Salem Communication has the resources that are a MUST to continue and preserve the greatest music in the world we all know as "Southern Gospel". Best of wishes Les!

Les is a very talented person. Not only is he one of the BEST Piano players/Musician and Singer but he is very business minded and knows the southern gospel music industry in and out.

He is well respected and always takes the time to help the artist and bring the best to the fans and he is also ministry minded and that means alot.

Congratulations les, we're so glad your going to still be a part of Solid Gospel and we're praying for you with your new endeavor.
