Additional Performers Named for the 2006 SGN Music Awards Celebration

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Deon and Susan Unthank, owners of SouthernGospelNews.com, are proud to announce additional performers for the 2006 SGN Music Awards Celebration.

Karen Peck & New River, the Ruppes, and the Imperials will also be featured performers at the awards program on April 25, 2006 in Smyrna, Tennessee. The newly added performers will be joining already announced performing artists the Crabb Family, the Isaacs, the Booth Brothers, Lauren Talley, the McRaes, Hope’s Call, Charlotte Ritchie, the Collingsworth Family, Gordon Mote, and host Sondra Burnett.

”We already had an amazing list of performers for the Awards Celebration,” stated Deon Unthank of SouthernGospelNews.com. “With the addition of these three Gospel music staples, we know that this year’s show will be top notch. We can’t wait for the date to get here, because we are going to have a great time celebrating Southern Gospel music!”

Hosting the Awards Celebration this year will be last year’s host, Chris Unthank, and Southern Gospel singer/songwriter/comedienne Sondra Burnett.

The 2006 SGN Music Awards Celebration will be held at River of Life Church in Smyrna, Tennessee, on Tuesday, April 25, 2006. The program will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Celebration is free to the public.

Official sponsors for the Awards Celebration have been confirmed, and an announcement concerning the sponsors will be made later this week.

The Booth Brothers led all artist nominees this year with a record setting 11 nominations. Following right behind the Booth Brothers was Ernie Haase & Signature Sound with 10 nominations. Karen Peck & New River and the McRaes received nine nominations apiece. Receiving eight nominations was Gold City. Hope’s Call and the Crabb Family both earned seven nominations apiece. The Ruppes and the Dove Brothers Quartet earned five nods. Receiving four nominations were the Kingdom Heirs and the Talley Trio. Mark Bishop, Triumphant Quartet, Hoskins Family, CrossWay, and Gordon Mote each earned three nominations, while the Isaacs, Collingsworth Family, Chuck Peters (of SGLive365.com and SGShowPrep), Three Bridges, Peasall Sisters, the Perrys, Greater Vision, Mike Bowling, Jody Brown Indian Family, Jimmy Fortune, Brian Free & Assurance, and Johnny Minick all received double nominations.
