
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Deon and Susan Unthank, owners and editors of SouthernGospelNews.com, are proud to announce the details for the 7th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival Talent Contest.
This year’s talent contest will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the River of Life Church in Smyrna, Tennessee. The contest will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will feature judges who are prominent members of the Southern Gospel community, including songwriters, producers, record label executives, artists, and more.
The prizes for this year’s talent contest are as follows:
First Prize – Three days studio time with Square One Studios in Franklin, Tennessee and one full photo shoot and package from Chris Wooten Photography.
Second Prize – Three months of radio promotion from a prominent radio promoter and a coupon for $200.00 off one full photo shoot and package from Chris Wooten Photography.
Third Prize – Ten accompaniment tracks and a coupon for $100.00 off one full photo shoot and package from Chris Wooten Photography.
First, second, and third place prizes will be given in both the Group and Soloist divisions of the talent contest.
“This will be our third year to do a talent contest,” mentioned Deon Unthank, owner of SouthernGospelNews.com. “We have some of the best talent enter the talent contest each year, and many of our past winners are really starting to make a name for themselves.”
The Talent Contest is on the last day of the Gospel Music Fan Festival, one of Southern Gospel’s premier multi-day events.
This year, the Festival has expanded to five nights due to the demand of artists and fans. A Tuesday evening concert has been added.
Tuesday evening’s performers include Gold City, the Mike Bowling Group, the Anchormen, Three Bridges, and HisSong.
The Kingsmen, Dove Brothers Quartet, CrossWay, the Lesters, and Johnny Minick and friends will be performing on Wednesday evening of the Festival.
Thursday night will feature an evening with the Crabb Family with special guests Sunday Edition and Young Harmony.
Joyce Martin, LordSong, the Ruppes, Hope’s Call, Mercy’s Well, the Dills, and John Lanier will all be featured performers on Friday evening of the Festival.
The Festival will close out on Saturday evening with performances from Karen Peck & New River, the Imperials, Daryl Williams Trio, Rejoice!, Jonathan White, the Browns, and the Quicks.
As in years past, this year's convention will remain free to the public. A love offering will be taken each night.
The 7th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival and Talent Contest will be held at River of Life Assembly of God, Smyrna, Tennessee.
