PIGEON FORGE, TN — (Monday, Oct. 23, 2006) - With the colorful Smoky Mountains offering their vibrant beauty, and many Gospel music fans being on hand, the Gospel music stage was set for a memorable weekend at Dollywood, featuring the legendary SGMA Hall of Fame member Dottie Rambo. Being one of Dolly Parton’s dearest friends, Dottie was especially honored to be asked to perform at the Showstreet Palace Theatre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of last week.
"I was thrilled and humbled at the size of the crowds, with all age categories being represented at the concerts. We all had church,” Dottie said, grinning. “It was a great experience for me, and, as always, I was impressed with the beauty of Dolly’s theme park.”
Among the many songs Dottie performed at the shows, she sang a chart-topping favorite, "Stand By The River,” which was originally recorded as a duet with Dolly Parton in 2004; and she also featured many of her classics, such as "I Go to the Rock" and "Sheltered In the Arms of God."
Also, after each show, Dottie held a special album and book-signing. For example, her new best-selling book, Driving Ms. Dottie, was available. The book was penned by her manager, Larry Ferguson, about life on the road with the Gospel music legend. It and her Dottie Rambo Cookbook turned out to be a popular item for those in attendance for the rare appearance.
