Group’s current single – “I Can Pray” – picking up steam at radio

BLADENBORO, North Carolina – The Dove Brothers Quartet were nominated for eight SGN Music Awards earlier this week.

The popular quartet received nominations for Song of the Year (for “One More Miracle”), Album of the Year (for Never the Same), Male Group of the Year, Best Live Performer, Traditional Southern Song of the Year (“One More Miracle”), Traditional Southern Album of the Year (Never the Same), Special-Event Project of the Year (for Shout It Out), and Fan Favorite Artist of the Year.

In addition, the Dove Brothers Quartet was the only artist to receive nominations for two albums released in 2006. Never the Same and Shout It Out were both released last year to much critical acclaim. With these nominations – the Dove Brothers have been nominated for a total of 15 SGN Music Awards ever since the awards’ inception in 2002.

“We are extremely honored to have been recognized in the SGN Music Awards,” mentioned McCray Dove of the Dove Brothers Quartet. “The SGN Music Awards have proven that they are about recognizing quality, and we are truly humbled that they have chosen to recognize the Dove Brothers Quartet.”

“The Dove Brothers are a classic example of exactly who and what we try and honor with our awards,” mentioned Deon Unthank, administrator of SouthernGospelNews.com (home of the SGN Music Awards). “They have proven over the last couple of years that they are more than just a flash in the pan artist and are in this thing for the long haul. They truly want to grow as musicians, and they want to see this genre grow. We wish every group took that kind of attitude when it came to their career in music.”

Jerry Martin of the Dove Brothers Quartet said, “Our latest project, Never Same, means a lot to us as a group. The songs that were included minister to us as well as the fans. We are very excited to be given this specific platform to share the message of the Gospel.”

Fans and readers of SouthernGospelNews.com will get a chance to vote for the winners of the 2007 SGN Music Awards beginning February 1, 2007. The winners will be announced at the SGN Music Awards Celebration in Smyrna, Tennessee on Tuesday, April 17, 2007. For more information – visit SouthernGospelNews.com.

In addition to the news of the group’s eight nominations – the Dove Brothers Quartet also found out that their current single, “I Can Pray,” is the #1 New Release for the upcoming March 2007 Singing News Top 80 chart.

“The response to this song has been unreal,” mentioned McCray Dove. “Everyone from fans to industry professionals to radio personnel are speaking of how powerful the song is. Many people believe this is the Dove Brothers’ career song – and we just might have to agree. However, people are simply being touched by the message of the song. It is resonating with the fans, and we are thankful that we had the chance to record this song.”

Anyone can hear the song by visiting the group’s website or MySpace where the song is currently streaming.
