MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – SoGospelNews.com was awarded the Diamond Award for “Favorite Industry Website” on Friday, September 14, 2007. The SGN Scoops Diamond Awards were handed out in a live program during the week of the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky in the Mary Room of the Executive Inn West.

“We are honored that the fans of Southern Gospel music have chosen to give us the award for ‘Favorite Industry Website’,” mentioned Deon Unthank, administrator of SoGospelNews.com. “We know that the success of SoGospelNews has come because the fans have embraced it. Thanks again to everyone who voted for us!”

This was SoGospelNews.com’s third nomination in the Favorite Industry Website category this year. The site also earned a nomination for Favorite Website in 2004, prior to the category’s division into Industry and Artist based sites the following year.

The SGN Scoops Diamond Awards are a fan-based awards program. Fans are given their chance to nominate their favorite artists, song, albums, websites, etc. in more than 15 categories.

Deon & Susan Unthank of SoGospelNews.com were honored last year with the Impact Award in the 2006 SGN Scoops Diamond Awards. The Impact Award is awarded to the individual who has made the biggest impact on the Southern Gospel music genre for the previous year. Deon & Susan Unthank were given the award based on their accomplishments with SoGospelNews.com. The site is not only an e-zine for Southern Gospel music, but it also sponsors the SGN Music Awards and SoGospelNews Fan Festival every year.

Previous winners of the Impact Award have included Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Roger Bennett, and others.
