RICHMOND, Ind. – 2007 SGM FanFair Awards Female Vocalist of the Year Sharron Kay King recently released a special Christmas single for the upcoming holiday season.

The song, titled “Old Ribbons & Bows”, is the title cut from King’s debut Christmas recording. The song was written by Sharron Kay King and award-winning songwriter Chris Binion and is about King’s own memories of Christmases past.

Sharron Kay King said, “‘Old Ribbons & Bows’ is about my most treasured memory. I became a Christian in July of 1987, so when Christmas rolled around, it was a blessed experience to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with my children who for many years didn’t even know what it was like to even have a mommy, let alone a Christian home. I hope you enjoy this soon-to-be Christmas favorite.”

“Old Ribbons & Bows” is on the newly released Family Music Group Radio Compilation, Vol. 42, cut #11.

“My first Christmas as a child of God is very special. My children and I hand made all the ornaments for our tree that year, and as we finished up with our decorations, Julie, Jason and Elizabeth all climbed up on the sofa and nestled up under my arms,” remember Sharron. “As we admired our masterpiece, I began to share with them the story of Jesus’ birth and why we really celebrate Christmas. As they fell off to sleep there in my arms, I began to count my many blessings and praising God for giving me another chance.”

Old Ribbons & Bows, the new Christmas album, features mostly original music that was written specifically for the record by King, as well as some of Southern Gospel’s most celebrated writers – such as Chris Binion, Twila LaBar, Jeff Ferguson, Tammy Dunaway, and more. The album also features holiday classics like “Oh Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”, “Silent Night, Holy Night”, and “Go Tell It On the Mountain.”

In addition, the new Christmas album features guest vocals from Tammy Dunaway and Kanah Dunaway Lovern (of The Dunaways) on “Go Tell It On the Mountain.”

Sharron continued, “I hope that many people can come to cherish the holiday season like I have now that I am a Child of God. I hope these songs can bring that little bit of extra cheer during the busy holiday time.”
