The legacy left by Alden Toney, former Blackwood Brothers tenor and founder of The Toney Brothers, continues to grow even after his passing. Robert Leatherwood from the mission organization ICM presented a framed picture to Betty Toney, Alden’s wife of 60 years on December 20, 2007. The picture was of a church built in Tanzania in Alden’s honor.
The construction and dedication of this house of worship were made possible by a generous gift from Dr. and Mrs. Jim Gills. Alden was formerly the administrator for Dr. Gills’ medical practice. Dr. Gills stated he wanted to do something to “have a lasting impact in the lives of others to represent Alden’s life and testimony.”
