The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd; indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.

Greater Vision Says Goodbye to Jason Waldroup

Posted on 08/01 at 01:55 PM

In a recent email to their Fans, Gerald Wolfe says goodbye to Jason Waldroup, their tenor for the last 13 years.

This week, we say goodbye to our tenor of thirteen years, Jason Waldroup. He's not just a tenor... oh no... for the last thirteen years, we've developed friendships that will last a lifetime. Really, our relationships have been more like family, since we've actually been together on the bus more than we've been with our families.

Jason moves on to begin a new phase of ministry with our good friends at Central Baptist Church in Katy, Texas, as well as beginning his education at Louisiana Baptist University. He has an exciting and challenging life ahead of him, and we are so proud of him!

Please join us in praying for Jason, Missy, Abbie, Jonathon, and yet-to-be-born, Ella Claire, as they begin this new journey.

We love you guys!

Waiting in the wings is Jacob Kitson, our new tenor, who will sing his first full-concerts with us beginning next week. We are excited to have Jacob on board, and we believe God has some great things planned for us as we move ahead! We are excited about the future, and we can't wait for you to meet Jacob, as he settles in to life on the road with us. You're gonna love him!

Les Butler Shares About Vaughn Festival

Posted on 07/30 at 12:49 PM

The Vaughn Festival, as well as the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion, brings out the core quartet fan. These are folks who really appreciate the classic quartet songs and hymns presented in four part harmony with lots of low bass singing, rafter ringing tenor singing and little else! All of the groups delivered all of the above with excellence. There were two groups who really set this traditional quartet fan base on its ear.

Mike Curb Receives Visionary Award

Posted on 07/30 at 12:13 PM

Noted Nashvillian and music industry leader, Mike Curb, has received The Cecil Scaife Visionary Award for 2008 the Scaife family announced today.

Passionate about the music industry and education, Cecil Scaife, a Music Row pioneer and veteran, was instrumental in the formation of the music business program at Belmont University that is now known as the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business.

It was Scaife’s vision to see Belmont produce successful musicians, artists, and music business executives by giving students an opportunity to formally learn about the industry that was so fulfilling and exciting for him.

“Mike Curb has taken the seeds that my father planted and sown them around the world through the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business with campuses in Nashville, Los Angeles, and New York,” said Scaife’s daughter LaRawn Scaife Rhea, adding, “it is only appropriate that Mike Curb is the inaugural recipient of this award. His generosity and vision have made it possible for future generations to realize careers in the music industry.”

Mike Curb, Chairman of Curb Records, has also been instrumental in the preservation of many of Music Row’s most famous landmarks. Curb’s gifts to the program of historic RCA Studio B, Quonset Hut, and Ocean Way studios have made it possible for students to study and learn their craft in these legendary settings.

Curb received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier in the year and is a multiple award winning songwriter, producer, and performing artist.

The Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business has been declared by TIME and Rolling Stone magazines as one of the top two music business schools in the nation.
